Three-Way Democratic battle shapes up for 14th District Assembly Seat

WEST ALLIS, Wis (WAUK) – In a race already with two Democratic candidates, another contender is joining the fray. Angelito Tenorio, a former West Allis alderman, has released a statement saying he’s seeking out a seat for the State Assembly’s 14th district. 

Representative Robyn Vining is being relocated from the district and there’s no incumbent in the race.  Already announced as Democrats are Brady Coulthard and Nathan Kieso.  Steven Shevey has entered the race as an independent candidate.  Tenorio pledges to fight climate change, invest in public schools, expand healthcare access, and advocate for union jobs.

The 14th district includes most of the city of West Allis and parts of western Milwaukee and southwest Wauwatosa.

Angelito Tenorio is the son of Filipino immigrants who immigrated to Wisconsin in hopes of finding a better life. Tenorio was raised in West Allis where he served on the Common Council. He served in the Wisconsin Army National Guard and is the proud product of a union household.

“I am excited to announce my candidacy for the State Assembly,” said Tenorio. “I grew up in West Allis and have a genuine love for my community. I’ve dedicated my career to public service from serving in the Wisconsin Army National Guard to the West Allis Common Council–I am committed to bringing positive change and delivering for our district.”

Tenorio earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from University of Wisconsin-Madison and has devoted his career to public service and advocacy. He served as Engagement and Development Manager for Wisconsin Conservation Voters, an environmental advocacy nonprofit. Most recently, Tenorio has been working as an educator.

“My priority is making West Allis a community where every resident has the opportunity to thrive. Together, we can fight climate change, invest in our public schools, expand healthcare access, and advocate for good-paying union jobs. That is why I am excited to embark on this campaign to serve the people of District 14” said Tenorio.

If elected, Tenorio would be the first Filipino American to serve in the Wisconsin State Legislature.

Tenorio launches his campaign with the endorsements of state and local elected leaders, which include State Representatives Francesca Hong and Alex Joers, and President of the West Allis Common Council, Kevin Haass.
