Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. (WFHR, WIRI) – Drug Take Back Day is happening this Saturday, April 27th. This initiative promoted by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services works in connection with health departments and law enforcement agencies across the state. Far too often, unused and expired medications find their way into the wrong hands. The results can be dangerous and tragic. You can protect yourself, your family, and your community by bringing unused and expired medications to a collection site.

Wood and Adams Counties

In Wood County, there are five different collection sites for the Drug Take Back Day event. Marshfield City Hall, hosted by the Marshfield Police Department, will accept drop-offs from 10 AM until 2 PM. The Pittsville Police Department is hosting their own drop-off event at the station from 9 AM until noon. The Wisconsin Rapids Pick n’ Save will hold an event hosted by Grand Rapids and Wisconsin Rapids Police Departments and the Wood County Sheriff’s Department from 10 AM until 2 PM. The Port Edwards Fire Department will hold their event from 11 AM until 1 PM, hosted by the Port Edwards Police Department. The Town of Rome in Adams County will hold their drop-off event from 10 AM to 2 PM at the Rome Police Department.

How to prepare

You should remove prescription labels or black out personal information on the label. Alternatively, you can put loose pills in a zip-top bag. Liquids need to stay in their original containers. You can bring capsules, creams, inhalers, non-aerosol sprays, ointments, patches, pills, and vials. You can find the list of items that are not accepted here. Remember to never dispose of medications in the trash or down the drain. For more information and permanent drop locations, you can visit dose of reality for Wisconsin.
